Playing this for the first time since I received it for Christmas when I was a kid. Just finished installing the HD Texture Pack, FMVs and Scumm and everything plays and runs great.

When you launch the game as is, it allows you to enter your username, however when you launch from Scumm it doesn't give you that option. This is my first time using Scumm to run a an older game. I have 2 questions.

Is there a way to name saves or pick users before launching?

Do you always have to run the game from the Scumm app or can you set it up to run from the Longest Journey .exe via a shortcut so you can pick the user?

Thanks

Scummvm typically uses a naming scheme for the saves based on the game ID (as it appears when selecting the game entry and then clicking the Game Options... button from the launcher). The game ID looks something like "tlj-win" or "tlj--win-1" etc.

You cannot set a user for the game, as with when launching the game from its exe, but you can re-add the game to scummvm. Re-adding the game will create a new entry for it, and it will assign a new ID, so it will have its own set of saved games, separate from the previous entry.

You can create a shortcut to run a game with ScummVM without lauching the ScummVM launcher.
But it won't do what you want here. It will still not use the game's exe. The experience/behavior will be exactly the same as with when using the ScummVM launcher to play the game.
Perfect, thanks for clarifying!
