I'll be away from my gaming pc for a while and i'm thinking of playing the game on my mac and then play the rest on my PC.

I don't know for certain if the save files for macs are the same as those for windows but I can confirm the they are the same for both windows and linux and can be freely exchanged between them.

If you don't know already the game save locations are (From an F. A. Q on Read Thread's own forum:

Q: Where are the saves located?
A:

Windows: %appdata%\Roaming\RedThreadGames\DreamfallChapters\
Linux: ~/.config/RedThreadGames\DreamfallChapters/
Mac: ~/.config/RedThreadGames\DreamfallChapters/

After the release of Book Two, files will now be written to a new persistent data folder. This should not have any impact on the saves listed in-game or files read by the game as it still looks through the "old" folders for relevant files. This only changes the location of which new files are written.
Updated locations can be found below:

Windows: %appdata%\LocalLow\Red Thread Games\Dreamfall Chapters\
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Red Thread Games/Dreamfall Chapters/
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Red Thread Games/Dreamfall Chapters/ or ~/Library/Caches/unity.Red Thread Games.Dreamfall Chapters/

The important common files for saves are located in the respective "root" folders above: a folder "Autosave" and possibly a file named "StoryFlags, data" There are possibly a few other files if have Steam installed, but I'm ignoring them since we're talking GOG here! There also is an extra file on linux where configuration data is stored (such as screen resolution, Language for voice and text, etc) that I'm not including since they are handled differently on linux and windows and I have no clue how they're handled on mac; If you want similar configurations on windows I suggest just setting them up once when you start the first time on windows.

The contents of the Autosave folder are a number of files corresponding to each auto save that was made during play (when the disk icon flashed in the lower right part of the screen); these have file names like "fb641005-fa9c-493e-8505-5d46911341aa.data" The StoryFlags.data file is only created/updated when each Book of DFC is completed (When you reach the recap at the end of each Book)

So, to port over your current game progress from your mac to your windows pc just find the save location(s) described above on the mac and copy both the Autosave folder (with contents) and, if it exists (which it will if you have completed at least one of the Books) to the corresponding root folder(s) on windows. If the folder path(s) on windows does not exist because it's an unplayed new game install just create them manually, or just start a new game and play to the first autosave (It's in the "Storytime" area).
Thanks. Well the game is Unity based, so if it works on one platform, there's a decent chance it will on another i think.
