I wish it was possible to skip combat in this game. I haven't played much of the game because honestly the combat system didn't jive with me, but I wouldn't have mind if we could just command forces or something.

Overall, though, I would prefer to skip fighting all together and just do the management thing. Do you think the game would have been better without combat?

An autoresolve option for combat was added in one of the patches I believe, so that's about the equivalent of no combat altogether. Personally I like both the combat and strategic aspects of the game, but I can understand people preferring just one.

edit: been playing it with auto-resolve for battles, and it's fun, esp. if you crank up the difficulty for federation making.
