I'd highly recommend R. Michalski's first game in the "Cat Lady series", Downfall, which is set to be remade soon, so you might want to wait for that release.

Another game you'll probably love is the awesome oldie Sanitarium, one of the first -- and best -- psychological horror thrillers in point and click adventure game form.

I'd recommend the recently (as time of writing) released Fran Bow.
Not as dark or gloomy, but certainly as twisted as this one.

The new version will have new graphic style, new music and voice acting. So I would recommend playing the original now and the new version later. That way you can enjoy both experiences, which are going to be quite different even if the story is the same.
