Downloaded the installer twice this evening but the installation stops about halfway and does not proceed anymore ... please wait ... or is the installation really so long?
What could be the problem?

took a surprising amount of time when i installed last night (though id made a "journeys end" folder specifically for it and left the 1.3.5 install intact in the regular "terraria folder"). not sure if that affected it one way or another.

Thanks for the reply. So you confirm that the installation is very long even 10/15 minutes for only 270 mb for the full game?

yeah i think it was about ten minutes at least.

Edit: just downloaded 1.4.0.2 and its taking a good while to install.

I did right-click, Properties:13.193 Files. I guess that's why it takes so long to install.

Terraria is also fairly well compressed.

The devs once released a patch where all the files were uncompressed and the game went from ~200MB to ~800MB.

It's not due to compression, it's because some idiot decided it's okay to have the game consist of well over 10,000 loose files, which hammers the file-system, storage device, and CPU which takes up more space on a drive while drastically lowering performance, rather than simply having all of it in even a simple zip file.

It's basically a worst of all worlds approach to doing things.
