My party is Neutral Good so it wasn't a main goal to rescue the countess, but it seems I can. But it puzzle me how.

I don't play with co8, and I have 3 companions with the party of 5, the only option I have with the countess dialog is either lure them into nasty things, either admit to be uncertain of the exit. This is a bit weird because I'm certain of at least two exits.

I was really curious about that, so loaded before start the dialog. Kill all enemies on the path didn't fix it, find the escape tunnel didn't fix it, clear a complex path from the jail to the escape tunnel didn't fix it.

I tried dig in deep guides on this mini quest, and found nothing clear. It seems it's only possible for Chaotic Good party, but some guides or most totally ignore that aspect. It's hardly because I have no free slot in party because the countess isn't listed as a possible companion. And some guides seem mention clearly you can guide her to the exit.

So what"s the point?

Thanks guides wasn't quoting it (at least 3 non co8). So can you give the spoiler when it's fixed, this doesn't answer on the guides incoherencies.

EDIT: I mean the dialog line in Co8 is either lure them into problems either admit to be uncertain of the exit, in this case the countess says they'll find themselves, so no reward promise through the dialog. And guides seems imply you can have the rewards, and not only for a Chaotic GoodParty.

So what trigger a dialog with a reward promise?

Thank you but I loaded back a save and started experiment, and I had an option, a post comment it in the thread you quoted.

When you speak with the countess at a point you can have two dialog option:
- Regret she doesn't remind more so you could avenge here.
- Request more information.

Option 2 leads to have only two choices, lure the team to bad things, or admit to be uncertain of the exit, then countess escape and no reward mentioned. It's not clear from the thread quoted but it seems complex condition to have the reward/safe exit choice plus bug in one case.

Option 1 leads to have three choices, one about a reward (obviously a greedy choice), then you get the option to show her the exit path. This method allows skip any condition and should work in any run, but for sure it's a bit weird roleplay wise (bother on vengeance and don't bother on getting more information, then show clearly a greed before bother do any rescue. :-)

About the thread quoted, it seems show the source is using conditions like x[745], lol that's awful programing practice, no matter how smart was those team, to end do crap like that in dev, no surprise they couldn't achieve properly any single project.

Lol, that said on this specific case, the design base is clearly wrong.

It can seem a good idea to have dialog variation from party knowing path to exit or not, but base it on triggers makes no sense, such choice would require be able determine if the player have setup a free path to exit or not.

That's what hurt me and made me dig, have a dialog making party say they didn't knew the path which was pure non sense with the context of my play.

Another prisoner dialog was more helpful, probably, a prisoner hinting me about the culprit and that he won't go back in town until he is here.

I wonder with what ended co8 but the design base itself is complex and borderline wrong.

The game could have as well just skip the reward and give an option to show exit, I would have notice nothing. Then it's a classic problem of building alternate options and players that want do everything not matter the roleplay incoherencies it can involve.
