I'm having a problem with a lack of dialogue options to advance quests. For instance, the Innkeeper in Hommlet asks me to catch that one guy cheating at cards and I agree to help. So's I send my rogue over there (he's the one with all the talky-skills) and... my rogue just talks to him about adventuring, doesn't challenge him to cards or dice or anything. I played ToEE when it was originally released and don't remember having to do anything more complicated than what I'm doing now.
I've noticed that after talking to the innkeep my journal doesn't get updated, in fact, other than the Ego tab my journal hasn't changed at all since I started playing. And the innkeeper just keeps offering me the same quest hook, every time I ask for a room.
Had the same problem with the gypsie lady who needs her orb back. I told her I knew who had it, and that I'd talk to him. Then I talked to him and just had the same conversation I'd had with him before. Ended up killing him and bringing the orb back to the lady, but I can't get any dialogue option where I offer to give it back.

On a hunch, I started a new game with a different alignment. The first party, the one having the issue, was Lawful Neutral, this time I tried Neutral Evil and was able to help Gundigoot no problem.
(Well, my party's lack of social skills was a problem, but that wasn't the game's fault :)
Any ideas why this happened?
