If you haven't already, I'd recommend trying out the humongous pile of community modules for either NWN or NWN2.

And my take is, giving a fighter a couple of rogue levels (and if you go for it, take 4 levels because you'll still only lose one point of BAB) is extremely effective, and enough thief skills for ToEE needs. Evasion and sneak attack is brilliant addition to a fighter. If you spread the levels, you can get good enough lockpick and disarm trap skills.

Also, the holy longsword is nice, but nothing to lose sleep over. You can make better stuff yourself.

Neverwinter Nights is pretty much the only D&D game that is actually designed to support a solo character, and even NWN2 takes a more party-based approach. It's certainly possible to play any of these games solo, but they aren't really designed for it.

I'd say try Neverwinter Nights, specifically the Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark campaigns, if you're interested in a solo-character experience. As Jarmo says, there are loads of awesome user-created modules out there that also have the same feel.

It depends on what you're going for.

When I made my comments earlier, it was with respect to a two-handed front-line fighter with a focus on strength. I just don't think the attack bonus loss is worth the rogue levels for that character, not in a party-based and combat-heavy game like ToEE, especially since he already has a rogue in the party to cover these skills. That's not to disparage the fighter/rogue (which is an awesome combo), I just don't think it's the right combo for this specific character in this game.

If you're going to do it, definitely go for 3-4 levels.

That yeah. I was mostly thinking about the thiefey character.
No point in having two rogues in ToEE (or in pretty much any D&D game).

Paladin, BTW, makes for a great main battle tank in ToEE.
Excellent saves and immunity to fear come in real handy in the toughest fights.
I was worried about getting fallen on accident. Is that likely?/

Yes. ToEE is really vindictive about this kind of stuff and you'll fall on a hair-trigger.

It's not D&D but an awesome solo fantasy I highly recommend is the Gothic series. Watch some LPs of G1 and G2.
