The blue line under the character portrait. Like after the drinking game, even after safe rest it won't heal. Is this a known issue?

Nope. Never even noticed this, it's used in what 2 places and neither is necessary in any way.
(I've ever only tried fistfighting, failed and reloaded, came back 5 xp levels later and won...)

Much like talking skills and the like, nonlethal is tossed in during the early game, but completely forgotten after that.
Thanks for the reply, at least I know someone is reading this. Much later, I'm in the temple itself and some monster gives me non leathal damage damage. This time when I rested, it healed. So I did the drinking game, and again it healed. So I'm off to the fight. Very strange, but it's okay now.
According to the game manual:

In addition, any nonlethal damage that a character takes is displayed as a blue
bar. If the length of the nonlethal bar ever becomes longer than the red health
bar (i.e. your character has taken more nonlethal damage than current hit
points), that character will fall unconscious until she heals some of the nonlethal
damage. Nonlethal damage goes away much faster than normal damage. A character
heals one hit point of nonlethal damage per character level per hour.
