When I try to save the game it refuses, saying: "not enough disk space". Which is a filthy lie as more than 400GB is free on the disk.

Machine is an ASUS ROG 751 with Windows 7.

Did anybody else run into this problem? Any ideas for solution?

Is your game by any chance installed in Program Files directory? If yes, install it elsewhere.
it's actually a known problem, the (orig) SS1 hdd space check going nuts sometimes (400GB being the hdd capacity of the entire Washington DC combined at that time, most probably). the workaround is to either increase or decrease your disc space (copy or delete random files on your hdd).

the devs are aware, and the check will hopefully be patched out in the next release.

Nope, it is not even on the C: drive where Windows resides.

I will try to do something you suggested, thank you! Currently the game is only playable in "Iron Man" mode without the possibility of saving.

I think the game should be portable - you can try a simple trick of moving (or installing) it onto a small usb thumb drive, and play it from there. there is a good chance that it will let you save properly there.

I tried this and worked! Thank you for the help! :)
the latest rc patch from the sticky should also solve this.
