Hi,

I have an original version of System Shock 2 bought many years ago.

Is the version from gog any different, does it give some benefits over the original version?
Or can I just update my game so that it would be equal?

yes, you can bring your cd version up to date. you will not get the bonus GOG stuff (wallpapers, extra music etc) of course.
