I'd love to see GOG match or come close to matching Steam's Community Choice sale price of $2.49. I was going to pick this up on Steam, but noticed GOG's version has a number of interesting extras.

I know I'm ~6.5 hours late posting this. :(
GOG doesn't usually track / price match Steam unfortunately.

The Steam "community choice" sales are usually selections from their larger pool of sales so it is likely that SS2 will go on sale again on Steam as either a flash or a daily sale.

That said, I passed on buying it on Steam since I would really prefer to give GOG my money in this case. I don't know all the facts, but I have to think that the fact that it is available at all is due to GOG pushing for it and I'd like to thank them with my business.

So, I'm hoping for a price match too (for the upcoming repeat Steam sale on SS2).
This is one of the few release day games that I bought on GoG.com - the other being Outcast. While I'm always a fan of cheap games, I think that the effort that GoG put in to getting this game back on sale means that they deserve $9.99 for it.

Man, System Shock 2 is worth 9.99 and even more. I´ve bought it in a blink of an eye the day it arrived here. GOG did impossible - they were able to acquire licensees (well Dive studios did), which were scattered across many companies or individuals. Not Steam.

Steam should be matching their efforts on getting older games compatible and DRM free, not the other way around.
There is no way this game will be 75% off anytime soon on GoG, it was relased just a few months ago and it was already 50% off during the last summer sale. Honestly, I think those 75% off sales are just insane, they devalue games and encourage buying more than you can even play. Even a 0.01$ dollar gme is wasted money if you don't play it. Of course sales shoul happen eventually, especially as time goes on, but this is just madness.

You guys are complaining about a game that was just on sale here a couple of weeks ago?
No one is complaining. The OP said he would love to see a price match. I replied that it was unlikely but I would love to see it too. No harm in expressing interest.

Since my understanding is that the only reason I can buy this is because of GOG's work, I will buy it on GOG.

I can't speak for the OP, but here's how I see it. GOG did the work of convincing the digital rights to be available and right now Steam is getting the benefit from that. A GOG price match might turn some of that attention back to GOG. If they don't think it will or this is a loss leader for Steam, no problem, but again no harm in expressing interest.

It is on sale for the next 48 hours so hoping GOG considers this, but if not, I'll probably pick it up next time it is on sale at GOG.

Very well-written. This is exactly how I feel about it.
