After I started playing, I realized the tags on some the files in my collection were missing some information. As I couldn't see any way of upadting the tags within the game, I exited back to windows and updated the tags. I then re-scanned the files but the game still uses the old tags.

Next I tried removing the files from the directory, re-scanning in the game, then putting the files back in the directory and re-scanning again. Didn't work. I also tried the "Delete cache" option within the game, didn't update the tags either. And I can't find where Symphony stores its data on my PC.

So, anybody figured it out yet? Or am I gonna have to uninstall the game and delete all progress in order to update the tags on a few songs?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: Found where the data is : C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Empty Clip Studios\Symphony

Deleting the USR-DATA files in the SAVEDATA subdirectory forced the game to rescan my library, but I lost all my progress (I renamed the file, but the game deleted my backup when I lauched it ... should have copied it outside the directory)

Hopefully someone will come up with a better way of doing this, or the devs will add an option to update the tags. Until then, make sure your tags are properly set before starting the game.

Hello,
Hmm, if you click Continue (Re-scan) your updated tags should show up. I would NOT recommend deleting your save game ;) in order to do this. Also, remember that we look for contributing artist, album or song name. If none of these exist, we show the file name, if more than one of these exist, we show those. So if you are missing tags, it might get confusing...

We have a feature on our list to display the original file name; hopefully we can get to implementing that!

Well, I already deleted my savegame and started over. Well, renamed it is more like it, but then the game deleted my backup on the next launch.

Anyway, I did try the "Continue (Re-Scan)" option before messing with my savegame files, but it wouldn't load the updated tags.

To get into the gritty details: I had a few mp3 files with complete ID3v2 tags, but the ID3v1 tags were missing the artist. In the game, these songs showed up in the no artist category (so the game prioritized the v1 tags). I exited the game, updated the ID3v1 tags so they'd contain the artist's name, lauched Symphony again and hit "Continue (Re-Scan)", but the information in the game never got updated. So that might a bug if it was supposed to update them.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Edit:

Out of curiosity, I added a tag to a song that had none, and selected "Continue (Re-Scan)" to see if the game would update the song's info. It worked. Which means the issue might simply be related to the ID3v1 vs ID3v2 tag thing.

Marking ECSGuy's post as solution since "Continue (Re-Scan)" is the actual way to do it.

I'm wondering as well, it's bugging me seeing "Unknown Artist - Track 1" and all that listed. So I exit to window, start naming music, go back into game they're still listed "Unknown Artist" even with re-scan... only way to get it to work is rename folder or move music to different folder, then in game choose folder, press continue, it will list tagged music. Somehow if I move them back to original place, it will reverse back to "Unknown Artist", it's annoying me, I'm having to leave tagged music in new location constantly.
