Is there any way to get multiplayer going? I loved this game as a kid and am loving it again but I always wish i had been able to play it against someone else, AI just aren't a challenge at all.

Direct TCP/IP connections are supported. You can also use anything that emulates a LAN connection (RadminVPN, Hamachi, the works), but you do need to enable DirectPlay in the Windows Control Panel.
