It's been a while since i played the first stronghold. This time rather then delete the name field entirely and just put my name, Josh, I left the "Lord" part and put "Lord Josh." The next time I opened up the game, rather then greeted with the standard "Greetings sire, your stronghold awaits!," it greeted me personally "Greetings Lord Josh!" My Jaw dropped to the floor.

For jokes I put in a few of the names from the credits (simon, andrew, eric, jorge) and, sure enough, there were personalized greetings for each of these people. Oddly Josh wasn't on the list in the credits, which made me wonder what other names are featured in the game.

I haven't looked it up in a very long time, but there's a folder somewhere in the Stronghold directory that has a million .wav files for the names that it supports. We used to record over it so our siblings would hear funny greetings.
This is a game's feature, when you enter a name that is similar or exactly the same with a preset name, the game will say it.
One thing that make Stronghold great.
BTW, I myself cannot find any name sound similar to mine, lol
