Okay, I bought the SK version from GoG, installed in a "friendly" location (i.e. NOT the profram files folder), everything smoothly so far.
Start the game and during the videos there's already a.. how to put it... palette fail, much green and large squares... through the intro video, people are only visible half-way, the creeping darkness is bright red - you get the idea. and still many square-like specks having the wrong colours.

When I finally entered the game, same thing happens - the graphics are mainly purple, very rough (pixelwise) and all the wrong colours.

Changed Shortcut Settings to 256 colours & admin mode. Helps with the videos greatly but one of two things occur during the game:

One: every bright or lighted area has wrong colours, large pixels and purple in it, (i.e. lamp shadows on the walls, shadowlords helmet & chestpiece during furst appearance etc)
Two: Same as before, entire screen filled with purple and other large pixels. I can still make out most of the things, but it is a pain to play.

ESC-ing resets this problem back to level 1, as does changing levels, but only for a limited time - at some point it will return to the mess-up.

Other things I tried: Change Graphics Mode by hand and with the Setup Program provided, changed from surface to openGL - no graphics at all, only black screen with sound, direct3d - no change whatsoever.

Using Win7 Home Premium 64 and pretty annoyed by this, would be happy if someone could help =)

That's a weird one... I've never heard of this problem before. Can we get some more info on your system? What OS are you running? What kind of video card do you have? Are you running on a laptop or a desktop?

One thing you can try is killing the explorer.exe process before you launch the game. The best way to do this is to start the game, alt-tab out of it, start the task manager, close the explorer.exe process BUT KEEP THE TASK MANAGER OPEN, then Alt-tab back to the game and see if the graphics have been fixed. When you're done, switch back to the task manager, and use the "New task" button on the applications tab to start a new instance of explorer.exe which will restore your taskbar and everything.

Anyone else have any ideas?
update the included dosbox version ?

But, since you want more details... =)

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit OEM
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz
2 GB Random Access Memory

Will try the Explorer-Kill, seeing as that fixes a bug in Theme Park World as well, repost follows.

Qbix: Good idea too, will also try that and post results.

And, no matter if any of this works or not, I WILL attach screenshots of both errors to my next post.
Okay... slight change.

first: Killing the explorer works. In fact, it works SO well, that I haven't been able to recreate the bug, no matter what I did.

second: The screen capts I used were from DOSBox, however these look exactly as they should. And, me being me, I tried the solution before making sure the screens were good.
So, unless this appears again, I'm afraid we have to stick with my explanation.

third: Like said before, after killing the explorer.exe-process, this bug disappeared completely. So, yay to more gaming, and thanks for the help =)

I actually saw that while I was writing my post, but apparently I forgot to delete my question about the OS. Sorry!

Anyway, glad that the explorer-kill worked. Enjoy the game!
