Hi, I'm new to this site and just wanted to ask if anyone has managed to get through the locked door on the Dwarven Fortress level, and if so, how did you do it please? (I'm about to tackle the Ice Cavern level and didn't want to start it without exploring everything on the dwarf level!)
Also, is there anyway of making the graphics sharper and less blocky? Some things (like gold coins) are tough to see.
Thanks in advance!
About the resolution question, best thing I can say is go into the game's video options and try to find the highest resolution the game (and your monitor) allows. I looked around on the net and there were no high-resolution fixes/patches released for the game.
Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply . I've only got the in-game options of Music, Sound FX, Mouse Sensitivity and Brightness, there's no option for resolution.
I've been tinkering with DosBox config file, (mainly altering the "fullresolution=" part of it,) but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the blocky graphics, while altering the "windowresolution=" part does make the graphics slightly sharper but at the cost of making the play window much smaller.
I've searched the 'Net myself and I've come across reviews with pictures from the game (check out the attachment,) and they look so modern and so much better than I can get! If there's anyone who can suggest a DosBox config tweak that'll help me achieve the same I'd be very grateful as I do love this game!
Meanwhile, any thoughts on that pesky locked door on the Dwarf Fortress level?

try the scaler options
scaler=advinterp2x or so
Regarding the locked door, there is no way to open it unless you kill Geldor (the keeper of "Geldor's Armory") and take his key. This will anger the dwarves in the clanhall. There's nothing in that room you shouldn't already have, aside from a warhammer found later in the game, and a scroll with a bad joke. (If you read it, somebody unfamiliar says "Line missing.") The only way to get in there without angering the dwarves is to use UGE.
I just played thru Stonekeep last night (4/27/2009) for the 3rd time. It is/was an awesome game. I've found references to UGE in numerous help sessions on other websites. Please advise where to get it and to learn more about it. Thanks in advance.
I check this forum 2-3 times a week and offer to provide assistance for many problems others might encounter. (For example, last night I unconditionally found how to get through the >>Gateway<< to the Palace of Shadows, after you have found the Orb needed to "ascend.")
