I saw a review of this, comparing it to an old RPG from the '90s. That got me really interested in the game! Looking at its summary, I wish this game had a story to progress through, rather than the "sandbox" game. It looks like it is amazing, graphically and it would be a really great engine to tell a story.

That being said, is there a release date for this? It looks like this game has been in development for almost five years and it's not clear to me what the goals are to reach version 1.0. Is there a timeline, list of features, etc. somewhere? I'm not really interested in buying an incomplete game.

The (one person) developers website is https://www.stellartactics.com/

I can wholeheartedly reccomend this game. It is very well supported. I bought it several months ago and spent over 150 hours in it before deciding to wait and see what the next update provided. This came a couple of weeks ago and I have not been disappointed. It is already way ahead of many games on content, despite being in beta.

Depending on your start choice, the first couple of hours can be on rails, but that to set the back story. Otherwise, completely free roam. Trade, mine, space and ground combat, boarding, crafting, more. It all works.

Also have a look at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLz9VeMQzouzQK4O7RRZ-qudbGuhWT5tjo

This is Gamester4life. he very patiently goes through the full game possibilities, choices and how to. The playlist here is long, but each episode is titled so you can freely choose which ones to watch.

In summary, the game can easily be considered complete, but it isn't because of the developers determination to add more.

.

I own the game, but haven't had a chance to play it.

But I can say this is likely one of the nicest deveopers out there and also very active here in the GOG community.

This person has provided constant updates, listened to feedback on a regular basis and takes those feedback very seriously.

I've never seen a dev provide so many improvements based on peoples feedbacks. I was so impressed from reading much of it, that it became one of the few games I bought while it was still in the "In Dev" status.

I can't wait to try it and would love to provide gameplay feedback as well, but I promised myself to play a few of the games in my backlog before I tried new ones. But this one comes very close to enticing me to break that promise. =)
