Malorion: I've got Mint 17.1 (Rebecca) running from a USB key on a laptop with Intel graphics and nVidia GT555M. When I try to start StarCrawlers, I get:
Set current directory to /home/mal/GOG Games/StarCrawlers/game
Found path: /home/mal/GOG Games/StarCrawlers/game/starcrawlers.x86_64
Mono path[0] = '/home/mal/GOG Games/StarCrawlers/game/starcrawlers_Data/Managed'
Mono path[1] = '/home/mal/GOG Games/StarCrawlers/game/starcrawlers_Data/Mono'
Mono config path = '/home/mal/GOG Games/StarCrawlers/game/starcrawlers_Data/Mono/etc'
displaymanager : xrandr version warning. 1.4
client has 5 screens
displaymanager screen (0)(LVDS1): 1600 x 900
Using libudev for joystick management
Importing game controller configs
then back to the prompt. I'm relatively new to Linux (set this USB key up about a year or so ago but haven't done much with it until now) so I'm a little stuck from here. Getting a report from xranr (-q -v) gets me:

Since you are running Linux Mint from USB flash drive: are you using a live system (system settings and changes to the drive are not saved), or a persistent installation (everything is saved between reboots)?
We strongly recommend that you install your Linux system on a hard drive or SSD, because a live installation:
- doesn't allow you to install NVIDIA video card drivers, and you use the integrated Intel card by default
- by default does not store any changes you make to the system, including installed games and their saves
If it's not possible, we'll try to help you anyway. Could you attach your system report? It can be generated by using the script present in the game installation directory. Please also provide the game log, you will find it in: $HOME/.config/unity3d/Juggernaut Games/StarCrawlers/Player.log
