Hi,

My apologies if this has been asked before, but I could not find a topic about this.

I am trying to get X-Wing vs TIE Fighter to work on two computers here, to play it with (or against, hehheh) my son. However, whatever I do, I seem unable to get two copies of the game to get in touch with each other.

- Both computers are running Windows 10.
- Both computers are wired to the same lan segment.
- Windows Firewall has been disabled on both computers.
- Both computers can ping each other just fine.
- Other games (Battlefront II for example) work just fine with lan multiplayer.

In XvT, we selected TCP/IP, and set "Playing over the Internet" to "no". On one machine, I try to host a game, and on the other machine, I set the hosts' IP address in the multiplayer options and try to join... And after 2 minutes, it craps out. It doesn't matter which computer is host, it doesn't work either way. Setting "Playing over the Internet" to "yes" doesn't make a difference either.

In the past, I tried getting it to run as well, and seem to remember that tweaking Windows compatibility settings didn't help either, and that I couldn't get XWA to work either.

Does anybody have ideas on what to try next?

Would this need DirectPlay enabled (Turn Windows features on or off / Legacy components)?

Good call, but unfortunately, DirectPlay seems enabled on both machines...

This isn't really a solution, but more of a test. Although it could be a solution if you choose.

Tether one of the computers to a cell phone network, preferably the one that is going to connect to the host.
Try to connect to the host, using external IP rather than internal LAN IP. See if it works.

This would, at any rate, give you an idea if it's software or network related.

I am able to play with a buddy over the internet, though I have not tried over internal LAN.
