I am playing through the first tour of duty, and I have completed the mission objectives for TOD 1 Mission 8, but the summary always reports that the objectives were not completed. (I am also not receiving the in-game music change when the objectives are completed.) I have disabled both TRNs with prisoners, and both alliance ships have docked and escaped. However, the summary always reports that one of the Imperial TRNs was not boarded (even though the Alliance ships both report their missions were completed successfully). I have completed this mission numerous times, but the game won't let me get past it!

Anyone else out there having this issue?

Hey buddy, I beat that one. The mission briefing is confusing and partially wrong. Only worry about Identifying the 2 transports with the prisoners. Then disable those 2 transports. Do not attack the other transports. They can all make it to the frigates and enter the landing bays as far as the game is secure. Protect the prisoner transports, and the boarding transports. Don't worry too much about the TIE-Fighters. Go after the TIE-Interceptors. Keep looking for the TIE-Ints by hitting M to check your map - cycling through targets by pressing t key over and over is too slow even if you are fast. TIE-Ints attack the mission critical transports. Kill the 1st TIE-Int in the wave fast. They can get by you easy and run and kill you Trans's.

So, from the start:
Start the mission by trying to ID the 2 transports on the left. Start with the one at the back. Then hit Y key to target prev Trans in the list. Then go to the right side, after you ID each trans, hit y for prev target, slow down a little, and keep hitting y as you ID each trans in line. After you've flown this mission 3 or 4 times, you can go right after the 2 trans with prisoners once you've memorized their start locations (if mission does not randomize them - I forget if so or not).

Anyway, do not attack Trans's while ID'ing, and do not attack non-prisoner Trans's. Then worry about TIE-Int's as described above. Good Luck.

Summary:
1. ID prisoner Transports only (cycle through list by pressing Y)
2. Disable prisoner Transports only
3. Protect Transports (Kill TIE-Int's. Kill TIE-Ftrs if you can do so very quickly and only to protect yourself).
4. Do not let TIE-Ints past you - you can't catch them & they will kill one or more Trans very fast.
5. If one prisoner or boarding Trans is destroyed - you lose.
6. Let all other Trans go to Frigs unless you are point hog
7. Omicron 1 & 2 get to frigs first; then 3, then 4, etc. if you feel you need those points.
8. I kill some of other Transports myself, but not all (after playing this mission 10 or 12 I don't need all those pts.)

Good luck. Remember, mission briefing lies. You are only interested in the prisoners, not destroying other Transports.

Thanks for the response. The issue I am having is not that I cannot get the mission objectives completed, but rather that the game does not recognize when I do. Both alliance ships are completing their docking operation with the disabled prisoner transports and are both hypering out successfully. However, I never get the mission completion message, and afterwards the briefing reports that one of the TRNs was not boarded. However, the briefing does report that BOTH alliance ships completed their missions. It's downright weird.

I may try backing up my pilot and removing/reinstalling the game. If I managed to get a corrupt mission file, I suppose that could possibly explain it.
Update: Last night, I backed up my pilot and completely removed the game. I verified the installation folder was deleted, downloaded a new copy of the installation package, and reinstalled the game. I then restored my pilot and flew the mission again. The result was the same--both rescue craft complete their missions, but the briefing still reports that TRN group LAMBDA was not boarded.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Or any recommendations on a pilot file editor that I can use to manually edit the pilot to reflect my successful completion of this mission?
I finally discovered the cause of my rather unusual game behavior. I turned off the UAC, then manually changed the permissions on the game folder and all subfiles and folders to allow Full Control for all users and SYSTEM. After doing this, I was able to complete the mission and get credit for it!

So, if anyone else has experienced any issues getting credit for completed missions, give this a try.

I figured it out. The alliance ships will board the first two transports that you disable. If you disable the wrong transports, they will board the non-prisoner transports and therefore not rescue the prisoners! RPKampf1001 is correct. If you only disable the transports with the prisoners (ignore/destroy the others), then the alliance ships will board the correct transports and your mission will complete successfully.
Tour 1 Mission 8 (1998 windows ver) Y Wing F9 & F10 keys do nothing so shields or laser power cannot be set. Any suggestions?

Ok, this is weird.
Is it only in this specific mission?
