Well, since GOG has single-handedly brought X-Wing and TIE Fighter back into fashion, I figure we could use some new tools. Since I had a little mishap with the pilot backup script, I figure an old-fashioned pilot editor for the Collector Series version might be a good start. We used to have a bunch of them, but if any came out for this version, they don't seem to be around anymore.

Before I start trying to reverse engineer the data schema, I figured I'd ask if any of my fellow datageeks had any reference or info. If not, I'll just have to do it the hard way, like we did back in the day. :)
Well, using the old UGE file for Xwing 95, I think I'm off to a good start in mapping it out.
I'm interested in any progress you might make. I'm clueless about programming but I'd love to be able to tweak my pilot.
you could convert the pilot file to DOS using this tool http://xvtedicion.es/ingles/descargas/programas/c_programa_ing.php?id=13, edit it using one of the old editors http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/xwing/tools and convert it back.
Back in the day I remember using a hex editor on the pilot file to revive pilots without any loss of score.
Currently trying to skip a mission where Tie bombers launch and fire proton torps before I can stop them.

I can load the pilot data but its going to be trial and error to find out results of changes.
Had to copy text as this site would not let me copy link. Thanks to cheats.ru

Use a Hex editor to edit your .PLT files in X-Wing to make things
much easier. Use the Hex values detailed below to jump straight to the
final level and join in with the attack on the Death Star saving you
dozens of hours playing through earlier levels. You won't last five
minutes though because you won't have developed your skills through
the rest of the game. Still the choice is yours

Thanks! I've seen several pilot restore programs on here, but I think a direct editor with guide such as this is easier to deal with.

Or you could just use the above link.
Sorry for bumping this old thread, but does anybody have the Hex-data for the Extra tour of duties? Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing? You can get the "Talons of Hoth", "Shield of Yavin", etc... but I have now idea which data to change in the pilot file to have everything...
