I seem to get this message when running and crashes immediately on startup.

I have ran in administrator mode and directly from the .exe but nothing seems to fix it.
Other games from GOG seem to run fine so I don't know whether it's a game-specific issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Try to reinstall the game. And maybe disable your AV during installation.

Gave it a go and still no luck!
I think it's trying to use function #3 in a DLL. Any clue in the message or a log file as to which DLL it is trying to use?

I would try installing directx 9c if you have not already. Who knows, it might be sound related as well.

Well that's the curious thing as it seems to be looking in the .exe

"The ordinal 3 could not be located in the dynamic link library
D:\Program Filmes (x86)\GOG\Games\Star Wars - Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\battlegrounds_x1.exe"

I've re-installed DirectX to no avail. I cannot think what is missing as all other games and programs run fine.
One thing I would try is to install it under a different directory from "program files". Something like "D:\Games". The "program files" has some weird restrictions when writing to disk sometimes.

Well, I am out of ideas. Good luck.

Thanks for your help though
After checking through the .exe with DependencyWalker there were a few .dll files that were corrupted/missing due to a virus or something.
A quick check on the command prompt using sfc /scannow highlighted a few errors which resulted in a clean install of Windows that has now fixed this problem.
(Just in case anyone else comes across this issue.)
I'm having this problem too. What is scf /scannow? Are you saying I have to reinstall windows?? Can't I just replace the corrupted .dll files?

How do you 'disable your AV during installation'?

Is AV audio/video? You mean, like, turn off your monitor and speaker while installing??

AV will be anti-virus.

sfc /scannow is a system file checker tool on the Windows cmd.

I had a few errors in mine so re-installing windows fixed the problem for me. You could however download the .dlls from somewhere though.
Thanks, sorry for the
ignorance. I don't have an antivirus problem, and I ran SFC /scannow and my windows dlls came up clean.. so I'm at a loss currently.

This problem is with a different GoG game, but it's the exact same error, which is why I'm here.

The game I'm having this error on is: Alien Nations
