Anyone got it working in Wineskin yet? I'm using OSX Yosemite 10.10.1. Wrapper Version: Wineskin 2.6.0 Engine: WS9Wine 1.7.9

At the end of the installation process, it gives me four notifications:

Runtime Error (at 68:445):

Runtime Error (at 192:804):
Null Pointer Exception

Runtime Error (at 192:805):
Out of Stack Range

Out of Global Vars range

The problem is that when I open the game, the screen is all mashed up and chopped up and blocky and crap. I can hear theme music, and I can tell I'm in the game menu by randomly clicking, but I can't see anything.

Anybody have any clue what to do, or get it working somehow?

Thanks!

EDIT: I solved it myself... In Winetricks I set ddr=gdi. That's the same thing I did to stop screen flickering in Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magik Obscura. Hope this helps other people...

hey there,

you might want to try this option.

you might want to try Paul the tall website, he has a neat wrapper called :Portingkit

its a great wrapper program to run SWGB (and other pc games on his list) on mac, you will still see the errors after installation, but from personal experience the game runs great.
The errors you get are from the installer itself, and seem harmless.
It shouldn’t alter your game installation in any way (except maybe for registry entries, those I didn’t check).
Thanks for the replies. It normally runs fine but randomly crashes sometimes, which can be very annoying, so I'll probably try his wrapper out. Thanks!
Hi OP,

I'm running Mac Os 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) so the issue may be different, but it sounds the same, though I solved it differently. Instead of switching the graphics mode to gdi, I went into the Screen Options and changed "Switch Pause" to one second. Presto, issue, (seemingly) solved.

However, I still have a few small issues. One, when saving a file the text doesn't show up when typing (I guess I should try the in game chat and see if similar, though after I hit "save", the file name I typed in shows up under the saved games as desired.

Another thing is the highest resolution possible on an iMac 27" late 2013 (1280 * 1024). Oddly enough the screen zooms in so that the game is unplayable at this setting. I did get 1024 * 768 to work by matching it to display resolution, at least.

Next I'm going to try out that high-res patch, will tell y'all how that turns out.

Good news, patch works on Mac. Here's the link to the patch instructions. Make sure to use the ReadMe (GOG Files not CD files!): http://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_galactic_battlegrounds_saga/widescreen_unofficial_patch/post57

Edit 2:
I'd just like to note there's a hitch of a glitch when using the wide-screen mod, (I'm thinking it's a symptom of the same original issue) that causes the top half of the screen to strangely lose focus of the correct frame buffer and so you get a weird background overlap. It seems that this only happens if you jump quickly into the game, though. If you take your time it doesn't seem to happen (so far at least). That may be related to that "Switch Pause" feature in Wineskin, so it's possible that increasing the time on it (say to the max of 5 seconds) will stop the glitch from happening. I'm just going to go with what I've got for now, though, but if anyone wants to give it a try they could let us all know how that works out.
