Hi guys,

does anyone have stuttering as well when playing the gaming? Most likely when you move around. Its a little bit annoying and I wanted to ask you if there is a fix for this?

Have you ever played vanilla Age of Empires II?
Not the HD Edition from steam, I mean the normal retail game from 1999 which runs with 20 fps.

If no, this sounds for me the "stuttering" is normal, caused by the 20 fps limit of the engine.
AoE2 Fans removed this fps limit and they included 60 fps support.
But this was only done by an modding team which did "Age of Empires II: The Forgotten Empires" and the HD Edition which is being distributed over steam.

Unfortunately, I have never heard about this fps limit fix for Galactic Battlegrounds. :(
You have to play with the 20 fps.
It isn't only infected by the frames per second. The HD Edition of AoE2 includes enhanced camera movement.

After installing this on a few test machines I have, the stuttering issue is not necessarily a consequence of the software being old. I have two identical laptops that run the disk version of ST:Galactic Battlegrounds flawlessly, but the GOG version stutters six ways from Sunday. I suspect something was altered in the EXE for compatibility with the newer operating systems that hampered XP compatibility. I could be wrong, but it is an issue that requires some investigation. The palette bug inherent to Vista onward is not present, which gives some suspicion to modifications beyond the removal of the original DRM. I am just shooting from the hip on this one.
Thank you for your anwers. But I´m not complaining about the "20 FPS". The game will freezes from time to time for a milisecond and then continue normal. This gets really annoying when playing longer. I noticed that this stuttering comes whenever there is a notification ingame. Like a new unit has been build or the base is under attack.
Yeah I just noticed this too, it seemed to play fine last night but now I went to play today and it's pretty bad. Music stopped playing as well.
I have this problem as well, game seems to be random when it comes to framerate. Sometimes it runs flawlessly, sometimes its unplayable. I've tried running it on single core but to no avail. Sadly, there aren't even any solutions on other sites.
Happens to me to. First play didn't happen when I had population limit set to 75, everything on default. Next time I raised it to 125 and it started. I also changed the map to 4 players.

This happens to me also, it started doing this since this morning. What are the people of GOG doing about this?
Same problem here, it happens especially during fights, and I compared with the disk version and then everything was fine. It's not like if I was playing Total War so I'm a bit surprised.
Contact support. I don't know if this'll help anyone, and for some reason the Widescreen fix doesn't work for me, but perhaps try Expanded Fronts: http://www.moddb.com/mods/star-wars-galactic-battlegrounds-expanding-fronts

It ups the frame-rate to 60 among other fixes. Worth a shot I suppose. Try also starting a single player game from the Voobly Client and see if that fixes it, if so tell support to look into it.

Thanks for your advice. I've tried the mod, it's true that the game is more fluid but the micro-freezes are still there. I've contacted the support to fix this issue.
I've tried to fix the problem with the help of the support. I've reinstalled the game in admin mode, tried different compatibility modes, updated my drivers and DirectX but the problem is still there. I really don't understand what's wrong, and it's sad because it's one of my favorite video game.
As stated by Xzimnut all this stuttering doesn't happen when playing the vanilla version of the game. Just for comparison try to launch the game from the swgb.exe (main folder) and play a random scenario. You'll notice the game runs ways smoother than if you launched it using the wide_battlegrounds_x1.exe (though I haven't tried using the "stock" battlegrounds_x1.exe). I tried playing on Voobly versus 4 AIs using both versions and (hard to believe), the vanilla was still smoother. What's going on here?
Hello everybody!

I just wanted to let you know that I found the origin of the problem for my computer. In my case, it was a problem with the hardware, it turns out that my HDD was about to die. So I changed it and now everything is fine, the game works perfectly. So maybe you should try to see if your computer is okay if you're meeting this issue.
