The game silently hangs in the background after it gets past the videos. I have tried running as admin, disabling UAC, rebooting, and running with various compatibility settings.

The program stays running in the background but is only showing in the task manager. It just sits there using ~20% cpu and 1.1MB ram.

I get the same results on two computers. Both are running Windows 10 preview and have AMD gfx cards.

Is anyone else experiencing this on windows 8 or windows 10? Any ideas how to get this working?

I had a friend try it on their win 8 pc and it has the same issue. Windows 8 is listed as a supported OS so hopefully there will be a solution
OS : 8.1

On first run, got a popup that the game needed DirectPlay.

After that installed, game runs with no issues.

Manual install.

Control Panel - Programs - Turn Windows features on or off .

Under the Legacy Components tab , click DirectPlay
So on my main pc I didn't get that popup but I think I had previously installed directPlay. on my second pc I did get that popup and it still does the same thing :(

If I launch the non-clone wars exe it works! But there is a half a second lag everytime something spawns or a building is made. Makes it still unplayable :,(
For Windows 10 (tested with 9901) and maybe Windows 8 I found a workaround:

1. Close all battlegrounds_x1.exe background processes
2. Download HxD (http://mh-nexus.de/de/downloads.php?product=HxD) and open battlegrounds_x1.exe
3. Search Text String WIN32 http://www.gog.com/upload/forum/2015/01/4c324fba9490eeb22aa0e77b8b6e22d6052369fb.jpg
4. Edit WIN32 to WINMM http://www.gog.com/upload/forum/2015/01/f439837a79fb76682f240f7d17fafb5089e830cd.jpg
5. Save and overwrite the battlegrounds_x1.exe

The game should be start now but in-game background music doesn't work. :/
