Yes, if you go into the folder you installed it under, there is a file called "swgbg", launch that and it will be the pre-expansion game.

Yes, but it has neither the color fix nor the OGG music patches.

GOG staff, please add the patched versions (and links) to the original game as well.

The CC expansion makes computer controlled players play erratically during Original Battlegrounds campaigns (for some time, I even thought it was a GOG bug but was able to confirm the issue with the CD version). Almost all AI issues in the forum (Darth Vader campaign, Trade Federation, etc) are caused by this.

EDIT: the original SWGB can play music if you make a copy of win32.dll (in the game folder) and rename it to winmm.dll. I don't get why GOG has renamed the fix (from ogg-winmm, I guess) to win32.dll considering they had to patch SWGB:CC to use it.

Is this still an issue? I would like to play the original campaign without AI bugs and color glitch AND with music.

EDIT: ok, I payed more attention to what you wrote. I renamed the win32.dll to winmm.dll and was able to successfully run Battlegrounds.exe and play the original campaign with music. Now to see if I can play the original campaign with the widescreen patch...

Could you keep us informed if you can please ? I'm very interested :)

By the way, what is this AI bug ? How big is this a problem ?

I had no success with the widescreen patch(es) from the other topic in here. The vanilla game seems to be working properly on my Win 8.1 x64 when I run Battlegrounds.exe directly. Sounds works via the renaming stated. I have not experienced the AI bug myself and am working on reports such as the one from Mr.Whitney; these bugs seem to only be present when playing the original campaign through the expansion .exe (or simply by launching the game in Galaxy). I have not played more than a few Tutorial missions (Wookies) and probably won't for a while; the resolution and aspect ratio is aggravating in a game that hasn't aged that well - I wish it would get the Age of Empires HD treatment.
