If you have the game installed in Program files folder, try to reinstall it somewhere else, i.e. C:\GOG Games

Nope, I have all my games installed in a custom location.
I have the same problem.
Same problem right here. Would love to adjust the music as at time it can be a little loud and distracting. But I don't want to turn it off because it star wars, it an awesome soundtrack.
Ok I sort of found a solution, if you go where you installed Galatic Battleground you can run from one of the number of exe there to fix up volume control. you can either use Star Wars - Galatic Battlegrounds\Clone Campaigns\CloneCampaigns.exe or Star Wars - Galatic Battlegrounds\Game\battleground x1.exe. You can adjust volume in either one of these exe.
However there is still a problem where if you start a game and adjust the volume again in options (either sound or music) it will all go back to max again and you cannot adjust it until you exit the game.

Also Battlegrounds.exe or swgbg.exe does not play any music for some reason, maybe it just my version that doesn't.

It's expected. The GOG version of swgbg.exe does not use the OGG music library, and expects to read music from the CD. You can fix this by making a copy of "win32.dll" from the game folder and renaming the copy to "winmm.dll".
Mr.Whitney not sure if you're saying to make a copy of win32.dll, rename it, delete the original or just make a copy, rename it and allow both win32.dll and winmm.dll to exist side by side in the same folder. I've tried it both ways and GOG video player that plays the opening movie just hangs. If I delete the winmm.dll you suggested put in the game folder then the game starts fine again. Any ideas? Had you tried this yourself before making the suggestion?
Same problem here. No music is fine by me (and some executables do play music).
The sound however is unbearable. It is especially bad when there is a battle going on and N fight sounds blare at once.
I tried to edit the registry but without success.
I've done it the hard way, since all music is one, big .ogg file, I've just turned down volume using audacity, encoded and replaced original file.

Good idea! How far did you turn it down?

Quite a lot: -15 dB and I like it low, but I think something from - 12 to - 15 will be good. Some parts of soundtrack are lauder than other and it's hard to choose right balance
