The original game was IPX only, which meant that it wouldn't work on modern operating systems that don't support the old protocol any longer. Is it converted to IP now? If so, how is matchmaking done - broadcast?

I want to get the game to work with our VPN software so we can do some internet play.
Do you have multiplayer option working in-game or not?

If not, start the directplay-win32.reg or directplay-win64.reg (if 32 or 64bits) file to allow.

Then, the traffic coming from Internet is converted as LAN play and you can add another computer playing.

ipxconfig.exe => you can set the internet adapter, but it should be done automatically with gog i guess.
i was wondering this same thing. does anyone have multiplayer working? catar4x, where did you get the .reg files? are they included in the game download? or did you find them on the internet.

You'll find them in your game folder
I see - there's an IPX Wrapper included with the program that allows networking to work over TCP/IP. Interesting.

However, I'm still curious how matchmaking works. Is it all broadcast over the local network?
