Hello,

I have just bought the "Empire at War: Gold Pack" on GOG. Whenever I try to install the game by GOG Galaxy, the installation stops at approx. 50% and I received the following alert from my antivirus software AVIRA:

Type: File
Message: TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen
Source: ...\sweaw.exe.download

As consequence the file is blocked and the installation fails.

Is this a true message and the source file is infected with a trojan?

Thank you for your support and advice.

Best regards

a so called false positive, you can safely ignore it. Somewhere else it has been confirmed a few times, ALL files from GOG are automatically checked fo rviruses and ARE virus free.
Unfortunate the same can not be said about your AV ;)
Just for fun, download another AV and have it scan the other AV files, most likely it will complain about viruses found ;)

And this error might just appear while extracting. If you run afterwards the AV over this file you will not find anything anymore. Have seen it reported a few times. (not for EAW but some other games)

And yes I have EAW as well and play it quite often, with and without mods.

(this assumes you downloaded EAW from GOG and not somewhere else ,just joking :P )
Thank you very much for your answer, Goodatgamer. Indeed it seems to be a false positive found by the av. I also sent a ticket to the support of gog for confirmation in parallel.

No problem xmetatronx,
AVs can be really funny sometimes ;)
