I have long been running into a problem with the music in Dark Forces. In Missions 5, 8, 10, 11 and 14, the boss music does not get changed to. I even used some midi utilities to convert the GMD files to MID and then to text to look. I saw that the "BOSS TRANS" marker and sysex are there. But the boss music does not play. Is there any known way to get the boss music to play in the game? It seems to be an iMUSE issue. I don't know if anybody has asked about the boss music not playing. All I ever hear are the Stalk and Fight music tracks, which both have markers for the boss music within.

Maybe if I looked further at the system exclusive messages in the main music and did some comparisons with the transfer music that is used to go to the fight theme? If the boss trans is missing from the main music and needs to be in there, it could explain everything. But if the issue is something else, then it cannot be patched. I wonder if iMUSE itself would be needed to get that working.

Does anybody know what Sysex commands are needed in the main STALK-00 file for the STALK-05.GMD are needed based off of the STALK-01 entry? I saw the Boss Trans in there with a Marker followed by a Sysex. Is it worth it to attempt this? I want to hear "BOSS-05.GMD" start up when the Phase 1 Dark Trooper appears in Mission 5.

Anyways, there is a chance the boss music transition is broken. Can this be confirmed?

Edit: I sent an e-mail to Clint Bajakian.

The issue with the boss music not playing in the game is related to Dark.exe. Might as well let it go.
