GabesterOne: Don't worry, I set all games to standards of previous games and if they remove content from sequels, then no one should support the game because that is a sign of laziness and probable milking through DLC.
Space battles were fun and had great controls with balance ships, but it was not always fun because players are smart to realize just rush to sabotage the cruiser is the best way to win. Fortunately my friends and I set up rules to only stay in are fighters and not go in the enemy cruiser to sabotage the ship. :)
That's really nice to hear. Plenty of us had an amazing time playing space battles back in the day. But in all honesty, today it doesn't hold up too well. It's a lazy attempt at copying Battlefield 2142's Titan mode, a gamed mode which holds up well to this day. Again, nothing in Battlefront 1/2 was original, nothing was done better in those games than in other games, other than one thing, and that one thing is what made the games so special: it put us into the Star Wars universe.
Battlefront 2015 is following suit. It will lack a campaign, as its predecessors did. It will lack the intensity of battles in Battlefield (a game those titles took everything from, game modes, class systems, and more). It will not have the most amount of content for its time. But for Star Wars fans, it'll do that one thing right. It will put us in the battles taking place in the universe we all appreciate for one reason or another.
So yeah, I have no doubt critics will hate it. Certain consumers will hate it too. But the same exact thing happened for Battlefronts 1 and 2. And all of a sudden a new generation is coming out (outspokenly, might I add) on countless sites, claiming to have always loved the series. When in reality, the old games were never really "Classics." Reviewers all agreed, it was a below average game for the common gamer. Many gamers back then hated it too. Why? Well, because it is a blatant rip off of Battlefield.
So yeah, expect the same thing. As Battlefront 1 and 2 were hated by a lot of people, but loved by the Star Wars fans who understood how amazing the idea of stepping onto Hoth's snowy grounds, or flying above Cloud City's massive towers truly was. That's why I think I'll love the game. That's why I think many of us fans will enjoy the hell out of it. That's also why I think most people will just continue to hate it. Unfortunately it really doesn't hold up when compared to other AAA games coming out this month. But to the Star Wars fan. It will exceed our expectations.
Now, that's me being optimistic. If the game comes out. If the DLC is lackluster and just all around lazily done. If they somehow manage to break the game from the really clean Beta they just had. Then. And only then. Will I go to the mass consumer's side and say, "It really is shitty." But I can't let pessimism keep me from enjoying the galaxy far far away that I've followed for some 16 years now.
Edit: Let me add one thing. Those "emotes" they are adding. If there's one thing I could call shitty PR and marketing, it would be anything that has to do with those emotes. This isn't Counter Strike Global Offensive, this is not Dota 2, this is not League of Legends. What in the world do they think they're doing with these "Exclusive Emotes!" I'm never for stripping aspects from games, even if they are purely cosmetic/aesthetic. Either put them in the game as unlockables or keep them out entirely, but do not make me pay for a $60 season pass (which you haven't even detailed at all yet) just to get 2... "emotes."
