I don't see anybody else talking about this so I assume it's not a universal thing, but the cinematics (pre-rendered cutscenes) are much louder than the rest of the game. I remember music and SFX being louder than voice in the original release, but you can fix that with the Sound sliders -- pre-rendered cutscenes are not affected by this. I don't remember this being a problem in the original release, so what the hell is going on? I went into the pk3 files and it sure seems like the voice files and the audio in the cutscene videos are balanced the same, so I can only assume it's an issue with the game itself, not the assets.

As it stands, I just can't play the game -- I have no interest in playing with the audio cranked down so I can only hear the cinematics and literally nothing else. Is there *anything* I can do about this?

I have the same problem, Im using Windows 7 64 bit.
I had the same problem, but I found a workaround. I balanced the game sounds, which can be adjusted, relative to the cinematics volume, which can't be.

Effects volume at three quarters and music volume at one quarter work for me. It's not perfect however. In some areas, ambient sounds are still too loud compared to voices, but the game is playable.

The voice volume slider does nothing. Voice volume is tied to effects volume.
I (or someone else) could reencode the videos with adjusted volume
