I had trouble with the strange artifact lines forming from starfields for years, but right now with dgVoodoo 2.83 it works.

However, it didn't work right away when I set the Videocard to "ATI Radeon 8500", like most guides suggest.
So I switched between "dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerated Card" and "GeForce4 Ti 4800" and also tried different VRAM-Settings, mostly 128 MB and 256 MB.

And I don't know why, but after some tries I went back to "ATI Radeon 8500" with 128 oder 256 MB and suddenly all the starfield artifacts are gone. I don't know, why it works and why it didn't work right away... but now it works :)

Oh... and turn off Antialiasing (MSAA) - that also helps!

I'm playing with 1920x1440, ATI Radeon 8500 (you need to select this in order to have the nebulars displayed right), 256 MB, Fast Video Memory Access, Anistropic Filter at 16x and "Centered, keep Aspect Ratio" right now and it finally works.

However, since you need a newer version of dgVoodoo2, it does not work with the DVD-Upgrade for me. Maybe if they update the dlls one day.

I hope this helps, if you have problems.

Thanks for the post. I will check this as soon as I can with the DVD-Upgrade-Pack and will post the results here.

dege (the creator of dgVoodoo2) told me two years ago, that he cannot fix the starfield bug.

I´m curious :)
The starfield issue is finally fixed (YEAHHHHH).

Use dgVoodoo V2.82.5 (not 2.83!) with the following settings:
- ATI Radeon 8500
- Antialiasing (MSAA): OFF -> if you turn MSAA on the starfield issue is back
- Enable "Fast Video Memory Access"

V2.83 does not work (at the moment) with the upgrade Patch. Video Playback is broken.
I reported this to dege.

Thanks again ChristianGS for bringing this up.
