Mine was stable out of the box, just installed and ran, no settings adjustments needed.
Win 10
System admin user account
Install directory is C:\Games\GOG Games\ (not a system protected directory, could be important)
Intel I7 3770 (old, I know)
GTX 1060 6GB, latest drivers (optional on board Intel graphics disabled in BIOS)
32GB system RAM (1600 MHz DDR3)
1440p 144Hz single monitor, display port connection
Game install via Galaxy, only settings change made in game to 1600x1200 resolution
No additional DirectX installations (fully updated DX 12) and no custom settings on the GPU
After installing and confirming the game ran at the resolution setting, I did fire up the DX configuration GOG supplied and changed anisotropic filtering to 16x with no issues. I tried changing the anti-aliasing settings, but anything other than the default produced a blank screen while the sound still ran. All other settings can be changed, but it seemed to me that the defaults already produced the best full screen image.
EDIT - Added some additional details
