Hello there,

Im trying to get the cheat mode to work by opening the console. I've tried several things but I just can't seem to get the console to appear.

The places I've looked say that I have to hit the "/" key, and i've tried setting my keyboard to a US keyboard and all, but it just wont work.

Im running the game through Oracle VM and everything works fine, just until I leave Lord Crux's manor without having beaten him because I wanted to go get some potions, and then find that the door is locked behind me. I wanna use the unlock doors cheat so I can get inside and get the game running again..

Anyone who can help?
i don't think it is possible to make cheats work, if they ever worked at all. you could search for edited savegames online if you want godmode (hero has obscene high stats).

as for crux manor, it is a known bug, here is a solution from walkthrough by Matt P:

Q: Crap! I need to get back into Crux's manor? How?
A: Without editing the game files, it's impossible. However, with
editing the game files, this is what you need to do (from Hyland H.
Capin Jr):
In your walkthrough there is a part that mentions that if you fail to
get the "rune of manipulations" it is lost forever, or you have
to restart from a save before entering the manor or even start
a new game. Because the door is shut and locked. This isn't
completely true there is a way of getting back into the manor.
However this involves editing the doors.s in the script folder, if
one does overlook the rune and can't get back in.

Steps to take to fix this:
Be sure to make a back up of this file.

1.) Save and Quit Soulbringer.
2.) Use the find > files or folders from the Start Menu.
3.) Search for doors.s (default location is: "C:\Program
Files\Soulbringer\data\script").
4.) Right Click on doors.s and select properties under Attributes uncheck
ReadOnly, Click Apply then click Ok.
5.) Having done step 4 Right Click on the doors.s in the find files &
folders search select Open With and Choose Notepad.
6.) Change "VIG SetUpDoors-Intro FALSE" to "VIG SetUpDoors-Intro TRUE"
(Without the quotes.)
7.) Locate // *** manorext ***

Note: Only Changing the Closed or Locked values to Open is needed.

// *** manorext ***
IDoorOpen dlord_fr
IDoorOpen dlord

// *** manorint ***
IDoorOpen dlib1
IDoorOpen dbed_2
IDoorOpen secdoor_1
IDoorOpen dlib_2
IDoorOpen dmeeting
IDoorOpen dstore
IDoorOpen dstore_1
IDoorOpen dkitch_1
IDoorOpen kitch_2

Save the changes made.
Also Note that in order for these changes to take effect in the game you
must let the Intro play.
Thank you for the reply,

I found that solution also, saved me a lot of tears :)

Fantastic game!
The console worked with the original game, but I too cannot get it to work with the GOG patched game. (Edit: I used it so I could beat the parts of the game I had already beaten before a virus hit me. I think I also used it so I could send things to the Hex early.) It used to be you had to open the shortcut on your desktop, and add something to the target line, (and click apply) but I don't remember what. Anyone remember what you add to older game shortcuts to enable the console mode? ???

Edit 2: I found what I was thinking of, but it isn't working for Soulbringer. *sigh* If you look in the VtM: Redemption forum, under a post titled "how to enable cheats" you will find what I just tried.

Why is this not working for me?
Bumping this to see if anyone else has any suggestions as to how to get the console mode to work on this?

The cheat sources I found say you need to hold shift while starting the game but that doesn't work.

Does anyone know if this game had mods or dev info when it came out at first?
