This game is so broken it's unplayable. You can empty entire clips right into enemies from point blank range without the game registrering a single hit. :-(

V-Sync needs to be enabled, depending on GPU it might be needed to force it through GPU settings.

Thanks, that did the trick
These instructions alone aren't enough if you happen to have a 4K and/or high framerate monitor. In that case, you also have to cap the target framerate to 60fps. For AMD Radeon drivers, set the Frame Rate Target Control to 60 FPS for your SOF Payback profile. For Nvidia drivers, you'll need to use the Nvidia Inspector.

Hope this also helps.

A cap to 60 fps with a 144hz of refresh is not a good idea...

You are capping just this game, not every single program. Soldier Of Fortune Payback, was a rushed job made for consoles and then ported to PC... So it was meant to be played at 60 hz and not 144hz.

Is not the only game that was meant for 60 fps and breaks if you go above those fps.
Here's what works to get sof payback playable - Use patch 1.1, then set compatibility mode to windows 95. The game works perfectly.
