I picked up the game today in the sale, and played it for most of the day, anyway to cut a long story short I'm at the point of hitting admiral as a bounty hunter (federation) where the game tells me my basic skills will be upgraded.

Shortly after this (usually during my first travel) I get a dialog box appearing me telling me that the game cannot find C:\GOG Games\Smugglers V\Skill_Fire_GunSkill_Fire_GunAdv_on.jpg and while the game doesn't outright hang it stops usefully responding.

I went to the folder copied Skill_Fire_Gun_Adv.jpg and renamed the copy to what it wanted, which solved that message, only for it to next say that it cannot find Skill_Fire_MissilesSkill_Fire_Missles_Adv_on.jpg

I did as above for that one, only to run into one for ECM, did it again, at which point I was able to fly around. when I entered a fight and as a first action fired a missile I ran into the same issue only for Adv_off.jpg this time.

I've given up for tonight as hunting down the files to rename was getting annoying, maybe I go back and try to hunt all of the rest more thoroughly tomorrow so I can get back to the game.

sorry about this. This are not missing files though, but a genuine bug as you can see on the weird filename. I am going to provide a hotfix for this asap.

I guess that for now renaming the gun, missile and ECM files would work.

I have checked into it.

Actually there are no files missing, but the game looks for the files under an incorrect name. Until we can upload a proper patch, here is a hotfix, which fixes this problem by adding additional files under the file names the game searches. To apply the hotfix, download the .zip file and extract it into the game directory

This hotfix works for Smugglers 5: Secession and Smugglers 5: Invasion.

This works, thank you! I checked back today not really expecting a response (it being Sunday and all) so to already have a fix up is stellar :)

I can confirm the bug has been fixed with the latest installer/hotfix ;)
