the realse date is 17 march 2009

Cool. There's a website in English here: http://www.simon-the-sorcerer-5.com/
Looks like the March release date was for the German version only. According to a post in their forums, the international release is scheduled for this summer. Play.com takes pre-orders and lists a July 31 release date.

There is a 5? When did I miss the 4?

LazyAndroid: There is a 5? When did I miss the 4?

4 and 5 were both created by German developer Silver Style. Adventure games are popular in Germany it seems, it looks like more titles are created there than anywhere else.
4 has been translated to English and was released in Europe in 2008, but the English version of 5 appears to have been delayed and is not yet out.

Yes, I know adventuregames are popular in Germany, I was raised there. Don't live there anymore, that's why I didn't know about this.
But the real question is:
Are those german games any good?
Anyone tried them?
I am not saying they could be bad just for being german, but they could be wrong because they are not made by it's original authors and so could change the games feeling to a very different one. They sound basicaly fanmade to me (wich doesn't have to be a bad think, just amateurish).
I don't know if I explained myself.
I have tried simon the sorcerer 4 the graphics are high quality the game uses point and click whereas simon the sorcerer3D use the arrow keys for movement the game features characters like calypso and alix although it does not feature sordid it does feature some characters from simon the sorcerer 1 such as the troll who was at the bridge with the billy goats gruff in the first game and i like the easy to use features such as the point and click the map and the quest journal overall i think the game was a success.
Simon the sorcerer 5 looks great if it will ever come out.
Looks like the English version is available from Gamersgate. Has anyone tried it?

Not tried it, but just thought I'd let you folks know that Simon the Sorcerer 5 is also availiable on Impulse.
As a long-time fan of the Simon games I bought and played the fourth and was hugely disappointed. The graphics are wonderful but the translation from German to English is ridiculously bad. I mean really, really, really bad. The humour of the first games is just not there. The jokes, when you can actually make any sense of what was being said, are seriously lame. As for the voice acting - oh dear lord, let's not even go there.
I'd steer clear, unless you can get a very cheap copy from somewhere.
