The game recognizes my DS4 controller fine but I'd like to remap a few things. I can't figure out how to do so.

You can either do it in the game's settings menu by using your mouse to move over to the other pages to configure the controller (the binding for sidestep left/right is what controls how you change the settings page, and this is traditionally bound to L1/R1, but won't work that way until you configure it, so the mouse is your best bet I think).
Alternatively, you can use the game configuration utility under the 'additional executables' tab for the game, or in the game's folder.

I got it figured out after reading your post. I didn't know the game still recognizes the controller inputs to map the button when I was in the controller config screen. Thanks a lot!
