I can start ac in windows 10 after inserting the line "DirectDraw=0" into the AlphaCentauri.ini and disabling the intro. But when I complete a wonder in game the game crashes to desktop because it cannot play the cinematics. Is there anything I can do?

I'm running SMAC in Windows 7 and having the same issue - with DirectDraw=0 it runs fine but I just completed a wonder and the game crashes on cinematic.

It has been some time since I played SMAC but can't you turn off the movies upon completing a Wonder in the game options?

I used to have this problem on Windows 10 as well. I turned off the movies as a workaround, quite awhile ago. Just a few days ago I turned the movies back on, and now they don't crash. I suspect that Windows 10 has received some updates in the meantime.
