The game crashes after a couple of turns - terran[x].exe has stopped working. I combed through every post on this and other forums. None of the suggestions actually help.

I bought SMAC back when GoG didn't have the expansion yet. The game worked fine back then. I think it's save to say that the crash was introduced by the recent update and inclusion of the expansion pack.

Do not buy this game. Wait for GoG to release a follow-up patch, that makes the game actually playable.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and both games work perfect for myself. I downloaded the new installer even before it was announced - I got a notification in my games so I got it. Since then I've played a complete, start to finish, game of Alpha Centauri and now I have put 100 turns into Alien Crossfire. Both are working fine.

Ensure you are running the latest drivers for your chipset, video, audio, and also make sure that you are fully up-to-date with Windows Update.

I've put 12+ hours into Alien Crossfire with no crashes yet on Windows 7 64-bit. I'm using their default settings for the game (no unofficial patches or ini changes). Make sure you submit a support ticket with your system information if you haven't yet.

I've got this problem too.
What exactly have you tried to do?

Stuff I've tried:
Fixed INI file
Adjust resolution
Install patches
Re-load game

So far nothing's working =(
