Howdy.
Question about the Shogo: MAD as offered by GOG: does DirectMusic play in the menus and in-game?
Owners of the original might remember the Win2K days before DirectX 9's release. After updating to DirectX 9, one discovers that Shogo would have absolutely no music. As I recall, this is because DirectMusic got yanked starting with DX9.
(The reason this comes up is because the music is played in tracked sections (think MOD files, or the environmental music from Deus Ex, but better) by DirectMusic based on whether the game code thinks you're in a fight situation or not.)
So. Is the GOG version tuneful?

If you're asking if the game has music, then the answer is yes. The standard menu music is ever present, and the interactive (in-game) music is still there too (which you can turn on or off as you see fit). Though I don't remember having any problems with audio while running the original version off the disc on my systems using DX9, I haven't experienced any problems with it on the 'GoG' release either.

The music in this game is pretty much spot on. I can't really speak for the quality of the music as compared to the original, but the gog version has exactly the same hiccups and other minor bugs as the game did when I played in on my old PC when it first came out. And all these years I thought it was due to not having a powerful enough system.....
