When entering the room where dr Boron is trapped you get a mini cutscene and are asked to "kill the feral".
However the feral can not be interacted with in any way, and just stands there in its glass prison which also can not be interacted with.
I previously did the quest which kills everyone in the base and lets loose a ton of those endlessly respawning infected things, which may be why the quest is bugged.
