I remember buying this when it originally came out, and the adventures I had ringing Virgin's helpline trying to get the game to run in hi-res mode (a £7 phone bill and still no luck!) but even in low-res, I still really enjoyed this game. I would say this, ridge racer and sega rally are the games that I ensured I could never really got into driving 'simulators' or such.
I know this will always be accused or being a rige rip-off, which I won't try to deny, but for those of us at the time who couldn't afford a playstation, this was the next best thing, and I still enjoy seeing the planes taking off next to you, the ad boards above the start line and (only slightly) annoying commentator (with his ever so helpful pieces of advice and encouragement).
Control and graphics wise, the powerslides can be a bit tricky to master, and the frames can be a little bit choppy, but I can forgive these points for the fact it wears its 90's arcade racing heart on its sleeve and is proud to do so.
Thanks to GOG for giving this game a new lease of life!
