this is getting a bit annoying how it seems random linux variations of games aren't coming to the platform. does anyone know the reason for this? I can only assume that their either lazy/unwilling or they're waiting for the linux version of GOG Galaxy
My guess is that since Linux ports are often done by outsourced studios, it would mean one more company to enter negotiations with.
Too bad. This is a great game and I prefer GOG to steam, which does have a Linux port :)

Hoping the Linux ports will come to GoG soon, because it sucks to be stuck with the Windows-only versions while being able to run it fine through Steam.
The second and third game runs like crap under linux.
But ye its hard to resist this sale, I would probably get it if there was a linux version anyway.

The reason could be just that, it runs like crap.
Did deep silver do the linux port? Maybe they dont think its worth releasing a linux version for gog?
It would be a smart move to release it here tho, cause I was using windows when I got SR3, so when we got the linux version on steam I already paid for the windows version, so I got it for "free" for linux.

But I would pay for it again, and support the Linux version if there was one here on gog.

I assume it's because of the online multiplayer and how gog galaxy doesn't support linux yet.

I hope your right ^^. I know descent underground wont release there linux client before gog galaxy is out for linux.
Cause Linux users would only be able to play offline.

For the second, according to adamhm:
- The official release uses a wrapper much like Wine, but a proprietary one - and it has numerous issues e.g. lots of sound issues, radio music playback doesn't work, rendering issues

- The official Linux release appears to have been abandoned despite the outstanding issues it has.

(it's for the above two reasons that I doubt the official version will ever come here - in its present state GOG would most likely reject it)

I would be happy with the Linux versions only supporting LAN or direct multiplayer until GOG Galaxy comes to Linux, if that ever happens.
