I bought this game a few years after it's release. To be honest, i didn't play it at that time, i was too busy playing other games at that time, though i can't remember which ones (i thiiiink it was That time when i first got my hands on Baldur's Gate II). Anyways, i installed and played this game about 4 years ago.
Truth is, i did not expect it to be SO good! It's a different game, like something you've never played before. The combination of 3rd person and strategy, of spellcasting and army management, of soul gathering and harvesting gives it an amasing gameplay to experience.
The graphics can still be very enjoyfull and nice. All the game's feelings are just amasing, equal to some great classic games we've all experienced.
I truely recommend Sacrifice to someone who is undecided at the moment.
Buy it, install it, play it with seriousness and willingness and it will become a game you will remember!
Comment: It truely is difficult as a game, i always liked that to be honest, that makes the game lasts more if only you have patience!

I still find the graphics to be nice.. Even if it is so old. I have a small theory about it being because of doing a more arty (or perhaps cartoony is a better word) that doesnt follow the "realistic shapes" graphics push, so one notice it less.
For me it was the music that really surprised me after all these years..
I pretty much share all your opinions on it, truly a great game!
The game still looks great if you turn on Antialiasing(AA) & AnisoFiltering(AF) to the max and also enable Dot3 bumpmapping in the Game Graphical Options.
AA & AF makes the textures in the game look much more detailed.
I would say that the game aged pretty well, considering that it is about 8 years old now.
This is one of my favorite games of all times.. I have to admit that I bought a pirated copy 1st before getting the original after seeing how good it was back then.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how well the GOG edition of these old games run on Vista. The amount of work they put into compatibility implementation is well worth the price tag imo.
A very lovely game. I bought it when it was released and the quality of graphics are still top notch, at least in my eyes. The story, voice acting, just about everything still makes me smile when I play it. The missions are hectic and twists happening in the story get affected by whose (of gods) errand boy you are.
Haven't bought it yet from GOG, but I know I will. Worth every cent.

A friend of mine was asking me what was the best game I ever played (old or new) and I couldn't think of it at that moment, but now that I consider, I would think that Sacrifice, if it's not the best, it's at least ONE OF the best games I've ever played.
I first found the game on a now defunct website, Home of the Underdogs. They had it for download, calling it abandonware and I gave it a shot. I fell instantly in love with it. I enjoyed the style of the game, the visuals were beautiful (even compared to more modern games) and I just loved the storylines. They put a lot of effort into the game and I was distraught that I had never gotten into the game before the company fell apart.
When I first heard about GOG, I'll be completely honest, the thing which got me to really care was that I saw Sacrifice in the teaser banner. As soon as they get this cd key thing fixed, I plan on introducing the game to my lan party, because I know it'll be a hit.
I still have my disc sitting here, though I don't know if I remember where I put the actual CD case. This was one of my favorite games when I was younger, I found it to be pretty impressive how they actually took the RTS genre in an interesting direction. Also, I love the dialog with the different Gods.
It's nice to see I'll actually be able to get a working copy of this for Vista, as I'm not sure if my copy would even work. Plus, Giants and Messiah. I'll keep crossing my fingers for Bethesda to get on board and give me a working copy of Redguard (it's almost impossible to get it to work anymore, though I kept the box and disc all these years).
While I'm walking down this rambling, nostalgic road, anyone else miss the gigantic computer game boxes? Those were awesome.
