I just bought RCT 1 from Gog (my first purchase here). I actually have physical copies of the game and I reinstalled it on my computer a few days ago to relive the glory days. I got it working fullscreen through some playing around, but running in it compatibility mode wouldn't let me save games or load them. If I didn't run the game in compatibility mode I couldn't run the game in full screen. Then I saw this forum and people said the game ran fine when bought through GOG.

Whelp, I bought the game and it was working great! Saved game, loaded game, PERFECT! I was excited... and now I hit a roadblock.

Every time I load the game now, 9/10 times it won't get passed the intro screen (with the readme stuff). If I click or hit space to advance to the next screen, the game runs the next set of actions (playing the roller coaster sounds, loading up the menus for the game, etc) but they aren't showing. I have the "view the readme file" screen stuck on. Every so often I load it up and it works fine and I get past that screen, but this is rather annoying.

Anyone know how to fix this?

So if I have this right you had the game originally on a CD version but had compatibility issues on Windows 7. Then brought the GOG version and now that is going wrong as well.

Did you uninstall your original copy completely? (clearing out all the install folders, save files etc) To ensure no trace of the old version can interfere with the new one.
I believe so, I will try that again when I get home from work tonight.

Actually I just found a Hasbro Interactive folder and removed it, now it seems to be working fine. I run a 64-bit system and I removed the Hasbro Interactive Folder from Program Files x86, but I didn't realize it had placed one elsewhere. Thanks for the help!

My pleasure :)
Actually, I found the problem.

I add all my games to my Steam library, regardless if they are on Steam or not, so I have a quick place to find all my games and launch them. I found that launching it from Steam causes this issue and launching it through a normal shortcut fixes the problem (bizarre?), but for some reason using alt+tab when launching through steam fixes the problem when I refocus on the game.

Very strange, well I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue : )
