The game launches and the sound works, but the video is all messed up and is pretty much a black screen. I can interact with the game, but I cant see any of it. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. I have tried running them in compatibility modes, but to no avail. Has anybody found a problem to this? I just want to relive my childhood and any help would be greatly appreciated!
Same here. The only thing that seems to get any response out of it is alt-abbing out, during which it will briefly flash a single frame. Otherwise, just black screen. Do you get that single-frame flash too?

Win7 64 bit here.

edit: only tried RCT1, DLing RCT2 now.

edit again: RCT does the same. Dammit :(

I have the same problem. When I start the game the screen goes black but sound still works.

I have an AMD Radeon 7690M, I have the same behavior. I am thinking it may be an GPU incompatibility thing, since when I switch to the integrated graphics card in my laptop (Intel HD Graphics 3000), I don't seem have any problems (using Win98 compatibility mode) with RCT 1.

Edit: This trick worked for me:

Every time you press PrintScreen the display refreshes. In this way you can at least play it in Windowed mode and strectch the window to increase resolution :)

Hi,

Iam almost done with Evergreen Garden. But this error message

Exeption Raised - Access Violation

Error Location: Unknown

appears instead of the congratulation message of the end of year 4. Have tried the things with compatible mode and have reinstalled the game. Doesnt work for me. Can someone help me.

Have the GOG version.

Thanks.

This only works in RTC as RTC2 doesn't have windowed mode.
I'm having a very similar problem with RCT2 but not RCT1

QUOTE FROM MY ORIGINAL POST:
I recently bought RCT and after playing it for several hours without a problem I realised it was RCT2 I wanted (for nostalgia fun).
So, just got the game installed, launched it, seemed to be fine until the home screen loaded with mostly black screen and only some of the 'moving elements' showing up but not properly.
I'm running it on Windows 7 with an AMD Radeon HD 6320 Graphics card. I've re-installed the game, experimented with XP service packs and screen resolution but it hasn't changed.
I imagine this is quite simple to fix but any tips would be appreciated and save me some fiddling.

Was this ever resolved? Because I'm having this issue with RTC2. I have the latest video driver from AMD and I'm using Win7 fully updated.
