Problem 1: My mouse look in Win ROTT is messed up. It's the reverse setting of any FPS I have used. When I move my mouse up, I look down instead of up. Like I'm using a flight simulator but with a mouse.
How to I fix this? This is horribly annoying and makes the game difficult to play.
Problem 2: In Win ROTT GL there is no trilinear/bilinear filtering like other Open GL or Direct 3D games. As a result when you get up close, the textures get blocky instead of blurred. I have seen blurred textures in ROTT GL screenshots so I know it's possible to do this.
Problem 3: I can't go over 1280x1024, so currently I am running at that resolution. My monitor's native resolution is 1920x1080 so I would prefer to run at that resolution though 1280x1024 looks good too and it's the smallest problem of the three.
I am running Vista x64 with a GTX 280 graphics card. Hopefully my graphics card can handle this game.
Okay,
I solved Problem 1 by reversing mouse look in the WinRottGL 1.44 game menu
I solved Problem 2 by going to graphics settings in the WinRottGL launcher and selecting GL_Linear and selecting use external graphics and use extended precache.
Now I got two new problems unfortunately.
New Problem 1: When I save my game, the saved game is totally messed up. If I try to load a saved game, it shows me the outside mountain sky my character's current weapon, but if I fire it there is no sounds. I do hear enemy chatter though and music.
But basically the save seems totally corrupted and as a result I can't save my game!
New Problem 2: My weapons don't bob anymore despite the fact that "Bobbin" is checked in the game. I'm not sure what caused this because my weapons were bobbing fine in Win ROTT
Okay seems I corrected all these issues above by installing 1.48
Now everything works perfect and the game is entertaining as hell. Really holds up well if you ask me. I am starting off by playing The Hunt Begins shareware levels before starting on the Dark War levels.
Well I got two new issues. One ingame and the other with the DOSBox version.
New Problem 1: In the shareware levels on level two where it's all foggy I get to the silver key room and kill all the guys in it. The jump pad before the spinning spears trap in the room doesn't seem to work. Is it supposed to be like this or is this a bug with WinROTTGL 1.48?
New Problem 2: As a result of new problem 2, I was thinking of using the DOSBox version to compare. Well it seems my save games don't work from WinROTTGL so scratch that idea, but I also discovered a new problem. My sound suddenly stopped working. It was fine yesterday! Any idea why this could have happened? Did WinROTTGL cause this when it converted all the game sounds from VOC to WAV? I remember seeing 1.48 do that when I first ran it.
Try playing the game with Dosbox. Winrottgl has many bugs, some make the game unplayable.
